Tehran has threatened Donald Trump after the US followed through on his warning that Iran would be hit "hard" in retalation for its "surprise attack" on American bases on Tueday night.
Phil Garrigan, chairman of the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC), said: "More than 200 wildfires in just 12 days shows how quickly the risk can escalate when hot, dry conditions take hold.
"The scenes we’re seeing across parts of Europe are a stark reminder of what a changing climate means for fire and rescue services."
The NFCC has also warned that wildfire risks remain high across the UK, with eight ongoing incidents currently under national monitoring.

An alarming map of what defence sites Russia would like to target first came as the latest warning from the Kremlin.

Drought status has been declared across a wide area of North Wales. Natural Resources Wales (NRW) said widespread wildfires, record-low river flows and successive heatwaves have triggered the declaration.
The areas affected include North Gwynedd, Ynys Môn, South Gwynedd, Dee (Wales), Clwyd and Upper Severn.

A Russian warship, shadowed by a Royal Navy vessel, carried out a live-fire artillery exercise just 46 miles (74km) south of Plymouth on Monday.
